DESCRIPTION

The Rurality of the Marche’s territory is characterized by the presence of a considerable architectural and cultural heritage. Witness the widespread presence in the properties of small farmers and outside of the same of rural villas, towers, old mills, common drinking troughs, old oil mills. In places Casenuove di Osimo there is the Archaeological Area of Monte Torto, site of particular interest, as it houses the remains of a plant of agricultural production, perhaps belonging to an ancient Roman villa (end of the first century BC - 4th-5th centuries AD). The excavations, carried out between 1982 and 1995, have brought to light the pars fructuaria (sector of the villa for the processing of products) of a rustic Roman villa, whose oldest part, from the first imperial age, was divided into a series of rooms used for the preparation of wine and oil. Several ceramic artefacts unearthed during excavations are today visible in the archaeological section of the Civic Museum of Osimo.
