“RELEVANT, THE HANDICRAFT SECTOR, IT IS THE THIRD PROVINCE OF ITALY IN THIS FIELD”

Medium and small industry, handicraft, agriculture, seaside and cultural tourism are the strengths of a rich territory, with a per capita income higher than the national average with a high standard of living and even low unemployment rate.
Of note for the manufacturing industry: Scavolini, Berloni, Febal, Ernestomeda, Piero Guidi, Bikkembergs, Siviglia, Fiam, Pershing, Ferretti, Biesse, Morbidelli, PICA, Benelli, Benelli Armi, TVS, Alluflon. The shipbuilding industry in Fano and the coast is specialized in luxury yachts. Always relevant the handicraft sector, which appears much more than a simple spin-off to greater industry, being the third province of Italy in this field. Despite the characteristics of the territory, mostly wooded, the agricultural sector is quite significant, especially in the pre-Apennine hills. In recent years, grain growth, horticulture and viticulture have significant importance. In the livestock sector are relevant, poultry and herds of native cattle breeds such as the Marchigiana and equine such as the horse of Catria. Ecological-forest exploitation and forestry, especially in the inner areas of the Apennines, sees the work of small family businesses also engaged in a growing number of cooperatives, agritourism and country house.
Tourism in the province has the primary role in the economy of the territory. Especially with its beaches (the entire coast is bathing) and the Apennines. The Quality Valley of Gabicce Mare (together with San Benedetto, the beach at highest number of hotels in the Marche), Pesaro, Fano and Marotta, offer excellent facilities, natural beauty and historical-cultural itineraries. The hilly hinterland full of very well recovered burgs, has cultural and scenic beauties such as Gradara, Mondavio, Sassocorvaro, Fossombrone, Cagli. The capital has the Rossini Opera Festival an event of extraordinary artistic interest and worldwide appeal. Urbino, considered World Heritage by UNESCO and Italian national monument, is home to the prestigious University, among the oldest in Italy and as a birthplace of Raphael, prime tourist cultural destination.
