DESCRIPTION

The National Park of the Sibillini Mountains is a treasure chest of nature, traditions and legends, a protected area which defend the massif of the Sibillini Mountains and extends between the regions of Marche and Umbria, falling in four provinces: Ascoli Piceno, Fermo, Macerata and Perugia.
A mountain range that lies in the heart of Italy and reaching, with the 2,476 metres Vettore Mount. It is 'here, in the realm of the mythical Sibyl which in 1993 was born the National Park of the Sibillini Mountains in order to protect the environment, promote sustainable socio economic development and encourage the enjoyment of any category of persons so as to create a "park for all". Visso, located in the heart of pristine Park, nestled in a hollow surrounded by a ring of mountains, affects the eyes of visitors with its fascinating natural environment. The medieval hamlet, is full of balconies and tower houses, noble palaces, stone portals and ancient ruins that recall old memories. The small town is characterized by the Civic and Diocesan Museum-Gallery and the Museum of Leopardi’s Manuscripts, set up and organized in 1972 and housed in the Church of St. Augustine. The church, built in 1340 in the Gothic style, which features an attractive facade tricuspidata (with three pinnacles), rose window and ogival portal with little columns. The museum includes more than 200 works come from the churches located in the town and its hamlets and also safeguards some manuscripts of Giacomo Leopardi (six idylls including "The infinite").
