DESCRIPTION

The industry of the accordion was crucial for the area, giving rise to local development and giving birth to highly specialized workers, new entrepreneurs, businesses and markets. Castelfidardo, marked a milestone in the unification of Italy, with the defeat of the papal troops from the army of Piedmont in 1860 and the subsequent annexation of the Marche and Castelfidardo to the Italian Kingdom.
Legend tells that one of the Austrian soldiers that lined the "papalini" (papal soldiers) in moments of rest spent in a farmhouse in the countryside, was delighted to play a strange and unknown musical instrument. Narrates the legend that, a farmer took advantage of sleep of the soldier to understand the secrets of instrument.
The farmer is really existed: it was called Paolo Soprani. The true story is that he saw the accordion in Loreto, carried by a French pilgrim. He copied it, opened a shop and produced the instrument in series. It was 1863, the year in which Castelfidardo began to become the world capital of the accordion.
The thirty companies currently operating in Castelfidardo will continue to have success and a future if they can, as Paolo Soprani did in 1863, to read carefully the times and evolve modelling itself on the demands of the market.
In the valley is also important the art of violin making, which allows the construction and restoration of instruments of extreme sensitivity, such as violins, cellos, violas, double basses, guitars, basses and mandolins. It is an art and a craft technique almost unchanged from classical violin making, and remains one of the few arts to preserve the traditional manual processing for the production of high-level instruments. The handmade production allows various customizations through which you can get delicate nuances of phrasing and musical intensity unplayable in industry. To master luthiers today present in the Marche has the task of preserving this art, which is often handed down from father to son and becomes a profession of "niche" not within the reach of anyone.
