DESCRIPTION

In the overview of regional fruit sector, the reality of Valdaso represents one of the most important sites for the sector and is also one of the resources that best characterize this territory. The cultivation of the peach tree has a position of absolute dominance, along with apricots and plums. Alongside this abundant production there is an artisan and industrial transformation that produces jams, marmalades and fruit in syrup or alcohol. In addition to intensive and extremely rationalized cultivations also exists for the peach a presence of ancient cultivation by now to be found in cultivated lands by owners who tenaciously protect local biotypes for sentimental reasons or simply to maintain a harmony of taste. After the harvest are preserved, at least in the simple, traditional but effective peasant technology, in wooden boxes interspersed with layers of straw.

The strawberries were included among the foods that "keep young" for the high content of healthy substances, recently also highlighted in a Italian study of Polytechnic University of Marche.
In Valdaso, even if the strawberry cultivation is not of primary importance, however, it has always been present below the horticultural family profile.
In 2000, thanks to the initiative of some strawberry growers of the Marche, was born the association Adriatic Strawberry whose aims are shared management of the supply chain from the soil to the marketing.
