From the territorial point of view, this district is composed of about 30 municipalities belonging to the province of Pesaro-Urbino: Belforte all'Isauro, Carpegna, Cartoceto, Colbordolo, Fano, Fermignano, Fossombrone, Frontino, Isola del Piano, Lunano, Mercatino Conca, Lombaroccio, Montecalvo in Foglia, Monteciccardo, Montefelcino, Montegrimano, Montelabbate, Montemaggiore al Metauro, Pesaro, Petriano, Piandimeleto, Saltara, San Costanzo, Sant'Angelo in Zizzola, Sant’Ippolito, Sassofeltrio, Serrungarina, Tavolato, Tavullia, Urbino. The companies are specialized in the construction of wooden furniture for home furnishings, mainly, living rooms and bedrooms. The second production in importance is that of kitchens, which many consider the specialization of the district, by virtue of the presence of several leading companies on the national and international markets. To support and complement of the main chain activities, have developed over the years some productive specializations related such as the mechanical sector, that of glass processing, as well as some commercial services.
It all started with an ingenious invention: a machine that can do more holes simultaneously to a plank of wood! The Biesse, then became the giant Biesse Group that was the inspiration and the company base that provided numerical control machines to make cuts and holes of wood of any type and size. It was in a few years, the extraordinary success of the entire district and decreed take off of industry of Pesaro’s territory with an spin-off growing and versatile. Until just the apotheosis of doors, drawers, doors, cabinet doors and shelves of which mostly are made especially the kitchens...
The province of Pesaro and Urbino is the third largest Italian pole of furniture, after that of Brianza and Treviso and Pordenone, as they cover a wide range of furniture productions, from home furniture to office ones.
